car insurance quote online Question by asha: Which Insurance company should I go with??
I am a 27 year old female provisional driver, I just purchased a 1994 Renault Clio Routiers 66,000 miles. The car is worth around £700.
I have spent the last 2 days researching insurance companies online. I finally decided to take Elephant.co.uk’s quote of £519 third party coverage. Lowe and behold when I spoke to them on the phone they said because I wanted to pay monthly the cost would now rise to £627..Hmm!!
I really would appreciate advice on purchasing Car Insuranace!
Thanks..

Keep getting quotes! Make sure you are up-front with your payment options and what you expect in the way of coverage. Isn’t is interesting that the insurance is more expensive than the vehicle? Make sure and ask if you can get liability only insurance, to save you some money.

there are lots of professional insurance advisors in the high street – commonly called ‘insurance brokers’.
You may pay more for a policy through them but you have to decide whether the advice and assistance they would give is worth it.
Personally I would avoid the larger brokers as their charges are higher and they give less advice – being more interested in selling insurance than helping customers.
So look in Yellow pages/ Thomson and find an advert for a broker based locally – preferably one where you can call in to see them.
Have you tried: http://www.ecarinsurance.co.uk ?
They were £500 cheaper than any other company I could find.
Paying monthly always costs more. It’s much better to pay for it in one go because:
a) You don’t have to keep paying every month
b) It’s cheaper
c) I think you can claim money back from your insurers if you sell or get rid of the car before the year is up (But i’m not certain about this so check first).
It’s defenitely a better investment to pay for the years insurance in one go. All companies will charge extra if you pay monthly (It’s not just Elephant being fussy)
